can I say about Machu Picchu? It's probably one of the most majestic
places on the planet. It's located high above the Urubamba river which
turns into the Amazon 500km further north. The ancient Inca settlement
is about 2500m above sea level and is completely intact. |  | |  | Like with so many other sites, the Inca built Machu Picchu on ancient megalithic stones. You can see that clearly in this photo. |  | |  | This
astronomical viewing post was cut out of solid rock. Until 2004
the top of the rock was about 3-times as high. But then came a TV crew
to shot a beer commercial. One of the lighting posts fell on the rock
and broke it.
